Karim Valji, MD is a Professor of Radiology at the University of California San Diego. A summa cum laude graduate of Harvard College, he received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. After pursuing a residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, he completed resident training in diagnostic radiology and fellowship training in interventional radiology at UCSD. He has been a member of the faculty since 1990. He is currently board certified in the subspecialty of vascular and interventional radiology and is a fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Valji has authored more than 80 publications in the field of interventional radiology and has lectured widely on a variety of topics in the US and abroad. He is the author of one of the standard textWooks in the field, Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He was associate editor of the American Journal of Roentgenology from 1991-1995 and is currently the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Valji has broad clinical expertise in most areas of vascular intervention. He has been named to the Best Doctors in America list for the past four years.
